Anna Oliveri, post-doctoral scholar

Anna Oliveri joined the Casey lab as a postdoc in April 2015 after earning her PhD at the University of Oregon. Her research focuses on solution characterization of inorganic cluster species via NMR spectroscopy and DOSY.

Research

“Art and science are two sides of the same coin. Science is a discipline pursued with passion. Art is passion pursued with discipline.” – Dr. Arthur Sackler

From the elegance of a single crystal to the complexity of solution dynamics, nanoscale clusters have fascinated me for years. I am currently working on/mentoring a variety of cluster related projects in the Casey Lab. As a member of the CSMC and MSA-EFRC, the compounds currently in my sights include: Al13 Keggin isomers, U28 and U22 cages, “flat” Ga13 and Ga7In6 clusters, and the synthesis of novel Bi3+ species. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) can provide structural and dynamic information about these systems in solution. We have been able to use 2D NMR experiments such as DOSY, NOSEY, and HSQC in addition to 1D variable temperature and pressure studies. Stay tuned for exciting results and publications!
