Fellowships

The Bradford Borge Fellowship
A bequest from the Borge Family established the Bradford Borge Graduate Fellowship in Chemistry. Eligibility is based on undergraduate research experience, overall academic record and letters of recommendation. All domestic students accepted for admission to graduate study in chemistry at UC Davis are automatically considered for the fellowship. The Chemistry Graduate Admissions Committee identifies applicants who demonstrate high promise for excellence in chemical research. The Bradford Borge fellowships allow entering students to begin their graduate research early, either during the summer before enrolling for graduate study at UC Davis or at the earliest practical time after enrolling.

The Sloan Fellowship
The Chemistry Graduate Programs is a member of the Sloan Minority Ph.D. Program. We are one of two programs on the West Coast selected to participate in the Sloan Ph.D. Program. Graduate programs are selected based on their history of demonstrated success in recruiting and graduating African American, American Indian and Latino(a) PhD students.

The Sloan Foundation and the Chemistry Graduate Program work together to guarantee financial support to underrepresented graduate students who are making satisfactory progress toward their degrees. Sloan fellows receive mentoring and guidance that spells the difference between beginning and completing a degree.

Incoming Ph.D. students apply for consideration for the fellowship upon entering the program.
