Safety & Waste Management |
-
ChemQuik ~
Provides access to over a million MSDS files from over 13,000 current manufacturers
- Online Hazardous Waste Label ~ Use the online waste label if you already know what waste you will be putting in the container and when you are ready to dispose of a waste container that you were using a manual label for
- Office of Environmental Health & Safety ~ A consulting resource for the faculty, staff and students at UC Davis. This is where you sign up for safety classes, report unsafe conditions, etc.

- Excluded Functional Groups ~ Functional groups that the NIH MLSMR will not accept
-
National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) ~
NCBI creates public databases, conducts research in computational biology, develops software tools for analyzing genome data, and disseminates biomedical information - all for the better understanding of molecular processes affecting human health and disease
- NIH Molecular Libraries Small Molecule Repository (MLSMR) ~
This is where we send all of our compounds! They collect samples for high throughput biological screening and distribute them to the NIH Molecular Libraries Screening Center Network
- PubChem ~ Contains information on the biological activities of small compounds...you can find hundreds of Kurth Group compounds here!
- How to Search the MLSMR ~ Directions of how to search the MLSMR via the Stucture Search on PubChem

Organic Chemistry Resources & Databases |
- ChemFinder ~ A free chemical database with chemical structures, physical property data, and links to other websites.
- ChemLin: Organic Chemistry ~ Links to numerous organic chemistry websites including lecture resources, named reactions, chemical databases, etc.
-
ChemMine ~ A compound mining database that facilitates drug and agrochemical discovery and chemical genomics screens. The ChemMine project is divided into three main components: a compound database, a cheminformatic workbench and a screening database.
- Merck Index ~ An encyclopedia of chemicals, drugs, and biological substances. The Merck Index contains over 11,000 entries (referred to as monographs) mostly for single substances and related compounds (isomers, salts, etc.). Some families of natural products and biological substances are included as well.
- Named Organic Reactions ~ Click the name of the reaction to launch the interactive portion of the site related to that particular mechanism
- National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) ~ Provides thermochemical data for over 6500 organic and small inorganic compounds. The NIST database also provides spectra and other information
- Organic Syntheses ~ Collections of detailed, reliable, and carefully checked procedures for the synthesis of organic compounds. Each procedure is written in more detail as compared to typical experimental procedures in other journals, and each reaction and all characterization data has been carefully "checked" for reproducibility.
- Problems in Chemistry and Chemical Biology ~ David Evans' website which provides access to problems they have created at Harvard in conjunction with teaching activities in advanced courses in organic chemistry and chemical biology.
- Science of Synthesis ~ A critical digest of synthetic methods in organic and organometallic chemistry from the 1800s to date. You can search for experimental procedures, reactions and structures.
- Spectral Database for Organic Compounds (SDBS) ~ Provides spectra for 32,000 organic compounds. Up to 6 different types of spectra may be available.
- UCD Library Chemistry Subject Guide ~ Lists library resources for the field of chemistry as well as a variety of online resources and links

|
- CrossFire ~ The CrossFire search interface provides access to the Beilstein (organic chemistry) and Gmelin (inorganic and organometallic chemistry) databases. The Beilstein database contains information on over 8 million compounds and more than 5 million chemical reactions. The Gmelin database contains information on over 1.4 million compounds, including: coordination compounds, alloys, solid solutions, glasses and ceramics, polymers, and minerals.
- EndNote Citation Manager ~ EndNote is a bibliographic reference manager, one of several on the market today. Using Endnote, citations can be stored, searched and quickly inserted into research papers in the format of many scholarly journals. Endnote makes identifying and formatting citations for publications a breeze. (Download at: My UCDavis -- UCD Resources -- Software -- EndNote)
- SciFinder Scholar ~ Use SciFinder Scholar to find scholarly articles dealing with all aspects of chemistry, and information on chemical substances and reactions. SciFinder Scholar is the most comprehensive bibliographic database for chemistry.
