The UCD Small Molecule X-ray Crystallography Laboratory is equipped with three X-ray diffractometers for the collection of single crystal data. These include 2 Bruker SMART CCD Instruments typically operating at 90 K (though sometime lower) and a Siemens P4 diffractometer with a fast scintillation detector, a Cu rotating anode X-ray source, and a LT-2 low temperature apparatus that we typically operate at 143 K.

The facility has several high-speed workstations. Primary crystallographic software is the SHELXTL suite of programs for structure solution and refinement. In addition, we license the Cambridge Structural Database for UCD students, researchers, and staff to use for searching and structural analysis.
