December 2012

Jordan's paper has been accepted for publication in AEM (12/26/12). Mike started the project and Iara assisted the project. Atsumi group year end party (12/15/12) Shota gave a talke in the 6th IECA conference on Synthetic biology with applications to Biothechnology (12/10-11/12). The manuscript by John, Iara, and Hisanari has been accepted for publication in PNAS (12/5/12).

November 2012

Shota is on the Editorial Board of Journal of Synthetic Biology. Matt joins the lab as a BMCDB rotation student.

October 2012

Shota gave a talk in the 90th Anniversary Meeting of the Society for Biotechnology, Japan, "Biotechnology for Green Growth" (Oct 26th, 2012). Shota gave a talk in Microbiology department seminar series (MIC 291) (Oct 17th, 2012). Gabe and Shota gave poster and short talks, respectively, at the CIFAR Technology conference XXXI (October 12th,  2012).

September 2012

Shota gave a talk at the 19th International Microbial Genomes Conference(Lake Arrowhead, CA, September 20th 2012). Gabe's paper is available in final form. Nicole joins the lab as a graduate student.

August 2012

Shota served as a cordinator for 2012 ACS Project SEED.

July 2012

Shota is on the Editorial Board of Journal of Renewable Energy.

 

June 2012

Shota is on a report, "How Immigrants are Reinventing the American Economy" from the Partnership for a New American Economy. Vicky joins the lab as a UC LEADS scholar. Gabe's paper abour isobutyraldehyde production in E. coli was published in Microbial Cell Factories. Shota has been selected to be a 2012-2013 UC Davis Hellman Fellow. Robert joins the lab as a REU student. Edna's review article "Recent progress in synthetic biology for microbial production of C3-C10 alcohols" was published in Frontiers in Microbiotechnology, Ecotoxicology and Bioremediation.

May 2012

Gabe has been selected for the NIH Biotechnology Fellow (2012-2013). The project with the Asahi Kasei Corporation was highlighted on the UCD internationally engaged newsletter. Edna's review article "Recent progress in synthetic biology for microbial production of C3-C10 alcohols" has been accepted for publication in Frontiers in Microbiotechnology, Ecotoxicology and Bioremediation. Anh gave a talk in the 2012 Richard Larock Conference (May 12, 2012).

April 2012

Shota gave a talk in the Low-Carbon Forum of Urban and Regional Development (Hangzhou, China, Apr 26-27, 2012). UC Davis Aggies! West Lake (Hangzhou) Gabe gave a talk in the 3rd year student seminar (Apr 12th, 2012). Iara's review is in press in Journal of Biotechnology. Shuchi and Yohei are back to the lab.

March 2012

Gabe's review was published in Current Chemical Biology. Shota served as a session chair of "Applications of Systems Biology, Synthetic Biology, and Metabolic Engineering" with Hal Alper (U Texas) at 243rd ACS National Meeting (San Diego, CA). Iara's review article "Cyanobacterial biofuel production" has been accepted for publication in Journal of Biotechnology. Shota is on the Editorial Board of Conference Papers in Microbiology.

Feb 2012

Wilfred Chen (U Delaware) gave a semina in our department (2/14/2012). Jordan had a chalk-talk at the DEB pizza seminar (2/8/2012). Patrick Cirino (U. Houston) gave a seminar in our department (2/7/2012).

Jan 2012

Shuchi joins the lab as a rotation student from MGG. Gabe's review article "Synthetic biology approaches to produce C3-C6 alcohols from microorganisms" has been accepted for publication in Current Chemical Biology. Jordan's review article is in press in Current Opinion in Biotechnology.
